Cycling's transfer window officially opens on August 1, bringing an end to speculation and rumours as new contracts can finally be confirmed.

Cyclingnews will keeping track of all movements – from transfers to contract renewals and retirements – with our dedicated Transfer Hub.

We'll update this page through the rest of the year with every confirmed signing for 2024, building a team-by-team list of ins and outs, while also tracking the latest transfer gossip from the pro peloton.

The 2023-2024 market

For 2024, many of the sport's biggest names are already confirmed under contract both in the men's and women's pelotons.

On the men's side Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep through 2026), Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma for 2027, 2026), Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates through 2027), Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck through 2025), Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers through 2026) are set to stay at their teams for several years, though rumours persist about Evenepoel's future.

The Belgian may have signed a deal with Soudal-QuickStep which runs for three further seasons, but links to Ineos Grenadiers haven't died down through the summer. His team is building around him, with climbing reinforcement on the way in the shape of Mikel Landa from Bahrain Victorious, and team boss Patrick Lefevere has insisted that his star isn't for sale.

However, rival teams, with Ineos – who haven't won a Grand Tour since the 2021 Giro d'Italia – have continued to demonstrate interest, reportedly offering Evenepoel €6 million per year.

News of the potential Jumbo-Visma - Soudal-QuickStep merger has complicated the situation further. Should a deal be confirmed then it's unclear whether Evenepoel will stick with the new Visma-Soudal squad or indeed opt for Ineos.

The biggest confirmed move so far is that of Primož Roglič, who makes the switch from Jumbo-Visma to Bora-Hansgrohe for 2024 despite being under contract at the Dutch team. The 33-year-old was released from his deal early in order to move away and lead a Tour de France team of his own in opposition to soon-to-be-former teammate Jonas Vingegaard.

With around 50 riders under contract across both Jumbo-Visma and Soudal-QuickStep, any merger would see plenty of riders unexpectedly enter the market, though QuickStep boss Patrick Lefevere is reportedly seeking to save his team even if Soudal and several key riders make the switch to Visma.

In the midst of all of this, Ineos Grenadiers continue their search for their next Tour de France winner with Evenepoel persistently linked through the summer. The team is waving goodbye to Daní Martinez (back to Bora-Hansgrohe), Pavel Sivakov (who strengthens UAE Team Emirates), and youngster Ben Tulett (to rivals Jumbo-Visma), while 2021 Giro winner Tao Geoghegan Hart switches to the newly monied and ever-strengthening Lidl-Trek. Geraint Thomas, second at this year's Giro, is set to sign a new deal, while the team has retained Carlos Rodríguez after the Spaniard signed a pre-contract with Movistar.

While there's been little movement among the major GC names of the men's peloton, the sprinter's transfer merry-go-round has been in full swing, with many of the moves centring around a revamp at DSM-Firmenich.

The team has seen double Giro stage winner Alberto Dainese head off to Tudor as they welcome Jakobsen from Soudal-QuickStep as well as Bora-Hansgrohe's promising fastman Sam Welsford.

Arnaud Démare terminated his Groupama-FD J contract early to join Arkéa-Samsic after missing this year's Tour squad, while Sam Bennett is strongly linked to replace him. Elsewhere, Giro points jersey winner Jonathan Milan heads to Lidl-Trek and Pascal Ackermann trades UAE Team Emirates for Israel-Premier Tech. the future of Mark Cavendish, who is set to retire at the end of the season, has yet to be confirmed after calls for him to race on following his Tour de France abandon

In the women's peloton, Annemiek van Vleuten's impending retirement is the biggest move of the winter. She hangs up her wheels with Movistar at the age of 40 and leaves behind a huge hole in the Spanish team's roster. UAE Team ADQ veteran Marta Bastianelli has also retired.

The disbanding of the EF Education-Tibco-SVB team is the other major event of the transfer window, with EF instead choosing to start afresh in the Continental ranks with a team aligned with the men's WorldTour squad (it's complicated).

The new team will feature several faces from Linda Jackson's old squad, including Veronica Ewers and Paris-Roubaix champion Alison Jackson, while Coryn Labecki is another major name signing up. Meanwhile, promising 18-year-old Zoe Bäckstedt has switched EF for Canyon-Sram, where dad Magnus is a directeur sportif.

However, as is the case in the men's peloton, the biggest stars of the women's scene are tied down to contracts for next season and beyond and will be sticking where they are for 2024.

At SD Worx, the superstar group of Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky, and Marlen Reusser are signed up through 2024, with Lorena Wiebes on board through 2025.  It's the same story at Canyon-Sram (Chloe Dygert and Kasia Niewiadoma), FDJ-Suez (Grace Brown and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig), and AG Insurance-Soudal-QuickStep (Ashleigh Moolman Pasio) with their key riders under contract for 2024.

At Lidl-Trek, Elisa Balsamo (2026), Lizzie Deignan (2024), and Elisa Longo Borghini (2024) are set, while DSM-Firmenich will keep Juliette Labous (2024) and Pfeiffer Georgi (2025) for the foreseeable future, too.

With so many big-name rider contracts set to expire at the end of next season, the 2024 women's transfer window could well be more active than the current one.
